Vincent Gerbeau, Maitre d’

Vincent is not your usual maitre d’ – that quiff sets him apart before you even get to the colourful wardrobe & lively personality! He is a lover of fine wine, great food, music, art & all things beautiful and he insists on only the very best service.

Vincent set up the Retro as his own business in 2008. Prior to that he was General Manager at the Michelin starred French restaurant Monsieur Max in Hampton Hill. Vincent also spent a number of years working at the exclusive Mayfair restaurant The Greenhouse with celebrity chef Gary Rhodes.

Andrew West, Head Chef

Andrew is not just a great chef; he’s an artist as well. He loves the creative aspect of cooking and prides himself on not only great taste but also beautiful presentation.

Prior to joining the Retro Andrew worked with Gordon Ramsey and was Head Chef at the upmarket Maison MK in Marrakech. “The journey I have made through my experience as a chef, has lead me to encounter a wide variety of dishes and culinary styles from across the world, and this broad experience still resonates within and finds way into, my particular style of cooking”.

David Hooker, Head Bartender

What David doesn’t know about mixed drinks & bartending isn’t worth knowing! He is passionate about the history & production of drinks with a vast knowledge of the world of spirits & brands. He was awarded second place in a national cocktail competition with a cocktail of his own design.

David built up his experience in a variety of bars, including the Peppermint Bars, The Bingham Hotel and The Crazy Bear in Beaconsfield. Creativity being one his key skills, David loves designing menus and bar layouts.

Camilla Johansson, Asst Manager

Ensuring a smooth front of house operation, Camilla brings all her Swedish cool to complement Vincent’s fiery French style! Camilla is cool, calm and collected under all circumstances, bringing a wealth of international experience in the hospitality trade. Her previous roles include waitressing in Norway and on cruise ships, working her way up to Supervisor at the TW2 Bar & Grill and assistant sommelier at The Bingham Hotel in Richmond.
Camilla’s specialty is wine so she is ideally qualified to help match one of our fine wines with your meal.

Lewis Rowe, Junior Sous Chef

Creative and diligent is the best way to describe our sous chef – and totally immersed in the world of food. Lewis worked her way up in the Gordon Ramsey chain working at such prestigious restaurants as Claridges, Restaurant Gordon Ramsey, Petrus and The Savoy Grill. Her hobbies are reading cook books, trying out new restaurants and food and learning about new markets. Her goal is to learn about food whilst travelling and eventually to set up her own Michelin starred restaurant. Lewis also loves music so Jazz Night at the Retro is one of her favourite evenings!

Jonathon Robson, Chef de Partie

Jonathon – or Jono as we like to call him – is another lover of food and the fine art of making delicious dishes. He decided early on that academia was not the life for him and left university in his first year to follow his dream of a career in catering.

After doing his time at a waiter, barista and barman, he moved into the kitchen as Chef de Partie. Jono likes the high life – his experience includes creating canapes served in the London Eye!
